Katsugen Undo
Katsugen Undo is a simple and effective technique to bring relaxation
and restore aliveness in
the internal organs, the involuntary
nervous system and the spine. In fact this technique brings
wellbeing
to the whole organism by easily and simply releasing old patterns
of stagnant and constricted energy.
By allowing spontaneous movement in the body we will unwind blockages and release
tensions
and traumas, physical as well as emotional.
It’s a gentle and simple way where the body finds naturally the unwinding
path, without effort, by simply giving space to what wants to move, like a baby
in the cradle.
Some opening exercises and breathing techniques will be taught to support the
movement in yourself or in others and to collect or disperse energy.
Katsugen Undo is a technique created by Noguchi Sensei, a Japanese
healer, in the early years of the 20th century by studying the
natural response of animals to danger, trauma and accidents.
He applied for many years this technique to heal people who traumatized by the
earthquake of Kobe and applied it later on in more and more situations where
it was needed to unlock energy blocks. The technique begins by creating consciously
an energetic overcharge in the involuntary nervous system that will generate
what we call a "spontaneous unwinding" of the energy blocked in the body that
will manifest as spontaneous movement. The quality of this movement is unpredictable
as it comes in an uncontrolled way through the autonomic nervous system along
the spine and in the solar plexus connecting all the internal organs. It is a
very simple experience of freedom and spaciousness given to oneself: no goal,
no achievement, no "right" way to do it...it's more a letting
it happen...
The technique can be practiced alone, in couples and also as a group.
